Welcome to Psychotherapy
What is Psychotherapy?

At its core, psychotherapy is healing through relationship. There are many modalities, techniques, and theories, but the best ones are whichever ones work best for you.

Psychotherapy is a collaborative process. As such, both client and therapist are important. Not every therapist will be a good fit for every client, and effective therapy requires willingness to engage from both sides. Though it takes time to build the trust necessary, psychotherapy can be an extremely effective treatment for a wide variety of mental health concerns.

My role is to provide you with a safe space to unpack uncomfortable feelings and gain a better understanding of yourself. You may come to psychotherapy with a specific problem, or seeking support for difficult experiences, or feeling stuck, anxious or unhappy and not knowing why. We will likely explore patterns in your life and relationships, both in and out of the therapy room, to see where present issues might be rooted in the past. Through this you can practice becoming aware of the choices you make, understanding why you have made them, and deciding whether or not to choose differently in the future.

What to expect from your first session

Once you've made your first inquiry, we'll book an introductory phone call, free of charge. We'll have a chat about what you're looking for and how I might help you. If we're both happy, we can book a time to meet.

The first 1 to 3 sessions will be an initial assessment to help us gain a deeper understanding of what has brought you to therapy and what we're going to focus on. Progress is best made with weekly sessions. How often we meet can be adjusted for short-term or long-term therapy depending on your needs.
Â
Each session is 50 minutes long, with payment due before the session. If you need to cancel a weekly session within 24 hours of your appointment, the full fee is due.

When you are ready to finish, we will take a session to review, wrap up and gain closure.
